The growing popularity of the Internet and the World Wide Web has fueled a strong demand for high-speed digital communications over standard twisted-pair telephone lines. In response to this demand, telecommunications companies have offered ever-increasing bandwidth solutions. Indeed, emerging technologies facilitate data rates of 6 Mbps and higher. In this talk, we will describe current and future "xDSL" technologies and their potential applications.
Shawn McCaslin received a BSEE from UT Austin in 1982, and an MSEE from Rice University in 1987. He has 15 years of industrial experience, particularly in designing custom digital signal processors for communications applications. He has more than 10 patents issued or pending. He is a design manager for Cicada Semiconductor in Austin, Texas.
