Abstract
The wireless industry is a dynamic and complex one. It's an area where the
data, broadcast and
telephony worlds are colliding and converging. While there are ample
opportunities to develop and
innovate technology in this space, there's also a complex business and
market climate to contend
with as well. Mr. Hathaway will discuss how to approach the opportunities in
this rich and diverse
industry with a vision of the possibilities, tempered with a realistic view
of the business and
market realities.
Biography
Mr. Hathaway has over 20 years of experience in the high tech industry
ranging from analog and digital audio electronics to networking and telecom.
He started his career in the audio electronics industry in the early 1980's
where he did work with analog and digital audio DSP technologies. While at
Lexicon He established the successful LXP series of digital audio effects
processors. Mr. Hathaway has worked in the telecom and networking industry
at such companies as BBN, Digital Products, Ascom/Timeplex, Xedia, and
Agere(Lucent). While at BBN, he spearheaded research and development in IP
router forwarding engine technology for the DARPA funded Multi-Gigabit
Router program. He was Co-founder , CTO and VP of Engineering of IronBridge
Networks, Inc, a Boston area core router startup company, and most recently
was Chief Technology Officer of Agere (recently acquired by Lucent
Microelectronics) where he headed up a pioneering team developing first and
second generation Network Processor architectures. Currently he holds the
position of Venture Partner at Austin Ventures.
