About Me
My
name is Zhou Wang. Wang is my family name. Except for me, there are some other
100+ million people (about 40% of the population of the United States) happen
to share this same family name. Suppose there are 6 billion people in this world,
then telling you my name is Wang gives you approximately log2(6b/100m) = 5.9
bits of information. Sounds a lot, hmm? Anyway, my first name has to give much
more than that. If you don’t know how to say "Zhou", just pronounce
"Joe". It is pretty close and better than anything else you imagined.
From 1998 to 2002, I
was working for Prof. Al Bovik at the Laboratory
for Image and Video Engineering (LIVE), Department
of Electrical and Computer Engineering, The University of Texas at Austin. LIVE is also affiliated with the
interdepartmental Center
for Perceptual Systems and the Telecommunications and Signal Processing Research
Center
of UT Austin. In the summers of 2000 and
2001, I worked for the Multimedia Technologies Department at IBM T.
J. Waston Research Center.
I
like Go game, ping-pong, badminton,
swimming and many other kinds of sports.
I have many
research interests. See my research and publications pages for more details.
