    1. Image Processing
       a. JPEG 2000 Image Compression Improvement for Specific Applications , 2001-2002.
           Supervisor: Prof. Brian Evans, Prof. Alan Bovik.
           Implemented Generalized Bitplane-by-Bitplane Shift method for JPEG 2000 region of interest coding, with Dr. Zhou Wang. Proposed integration of PGM and GIF coders with JPEG 2000 codec, for better compression of images with natural and graphic contents.
       b. JPEG2000 Performance Optimization for Nokia Video Phones, Summer Intern, 2001.
           Supervisor: Dr. Fred W. Ware, Mr. Tony Newpower and Mr. Paul Kearney.
           Responsible for optimizing memory usage for an implementation of JPEG2000 on a open multimedia application platform (OMAP) architecture, and studying error resilience techniques for JPEG2000.
       c. 3-D Image Reconstruction from Stereo Images Using Wavelet Transform, B.Tech project work, 1998-99.
           Supervisor: Prof. Biswanath N. Chatterji, Dept. of E&ECE, IIT Kharagpur.
           Implemented wavelet transform on stereo images. Extracted camera parameters from the lowest resolution image and utilized it to reconstruct the 3-D image.

    2. Video Compression
       a. Video Compression Using Foveation, Fall 1999-Spring 2002.
           Supervisor: Prof. Brian L. Evans, Dept. of  ECE, UT Austin.
           Responsible for implementing foveated H.263 video encoder on TI TMS320C6000 processor and to optimize it for speed and performance. Also, compare performance of the H.263 video encoder on the VLIW and the SuperScalar machine.

    3. Image Communication / Networking
       a. JPEG 2000 Image Communication over HTTP in a Client/Server Environment, Summer Internship, 2002
           Supervisor: Dr. Michael Gormish, Senior Research Engineer, and Mr. Martin Boliek, Manager, Color Image Processing Group, RICOH Research Center, California.
           Implemented efficient communication of JPEG 2000 images in a client/server environment using tile-parts.
       b. Designing an Embedded Database for Client-Server mode of Computer Interconnection, Summer Training, 1998
           Supervisor: Mr. Vikram Madan, Design Engineer, Hughes Software Systems, Gurgaon.
           Implemented the client processes in C. Transported the whole module onto VxWorks and debugged the module.

    4. VLSI System Design
       a. Design of CORDIC Chips using FPGA for Low-cost Doppler Ultrasonography System, 1997-1999.
