I am a Ph.D. Candidate recent PhD graduate from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Department at The University of
Texas at Austin. I am a member of Center for Perceptual Systems , Embedded Signal Processing Laboratory and Wireless
Networking and Communications Group in UT Austin. My supervisor is Professor Brian L. Evans . Before joining UT Austin in August 2010, I earned my Bachelors' degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from Jadavpur University, India. In May 2012, I earned my Masters' degree in Electrical Engineering and advanced to doctoral candidacy in September 2015.
I will be starting out as a Senior Engineer at Qualcomm Corporate R&D in Banglaore, India in July 2016.

Research Overview
My research interest lies at the the intersection of computer graphics and image processing. During my Masters', I worked sparse disctionary learning of images with applcation to distortion classification for the purpose of no-reference image quality assessment and image coding. I also worked on the implementation of a structure-from-motion algorithm for the 3D reconstruction of a scene from a video sequence.
For my PhD research, I am working on no-reference image and video quality metrics for synthetic computer graphics generated imagery. I am investigating the application of Natural Scene Statistics for distortion classification in synthetic scenes. I have also developed a database containing both prisitne and distorted synthetic images. The details of the project can be found here.
I am also working on image quality evaluation of high dynamic range images using Natural Scene Statistics models to quantify the naturalness of the images rendered by different tone mapping algorithms.
