Biography
Dong Wei was born in Beijing,
China, in May, 1968.
He received the B.Eng. degree from
Tsinghua University, Beijing,
China, in July, 1992, and
the M.Sci. degree from
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering,
Rice University,
Houston, Texas, in May, 1995. Since 1995 he has been working
towards the Ph.D. degree under the instruction of
Dr. Alan C. Bovik,
at
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering,
The University of Texas at Austin.
During 1992-1993, Dong Wei was with Tsinghua University as a software
engineer working on image data compression and computer graphics.
During 1993-1995, he was a Research Assistant with
Digital Signal Processing Group led
by Dr. C. Sidney Burrus and
Computational Mathematics Laboratory
led by Dr. Raymond O. Wells, Jr.
at Rice University. During 1995-1996, he held a part-time research
fellowship at Schlumberger Austin Research, Austin, Texas. Since 1995 he has
been a Research Assistant with
Laboratory for Vision Systems, The University of Texas at Austin.
His research interests include digital signal, image, and video processing,
wavelet theory, and data compression.
He is a student member of
IEEE, and a reviewer for IEEE Transactions
on Image Processing.
